Start with the contact information, such as your name, address, phone number, email address. Make sure it is a presentable and professional sounding email address. If possible, register a Gmail account under your name and mention it below your name. When you consider the style of the resume, it should be easy to read with a fond size of ten or twelve. The preferred font is usually Times Roman, Courier or Helvetica. These styles look professional and neat. Comic Sans is easy to read, but refrain from using this font since it is considered unprofessional in most of the cases. One of the most important tips to make a resume is to use legible words so stay away from using fonts like Bickley Scrip and Lucida. Do not use different fonts for different sections it confuses the readers.
Design of the resume: While you learn to make a resume, the designing of the resume is important. As the saying goes, "less is more", it holds true for resume making. Refrain from using colorful paper and snazzy designs. Make your resume impressive without colors.
The focus of the resume is the content. Use rich key words that get noticed in the crowd of resumes. The sections about your achievements, skills and education should be relevant. Keep everything focused at the objective and on the job, you are applying for.
A creative writer is the one who knows the art of making the resume stand out with the proper designing. Be honest when you enumerate your experiences and skills, because any lie would eventually backfire, and could cost you your job.

Keep in mind these key ideas as you write your resume. A resume is a brief about all the relevant experiences, skills and education. There are different styles of resumes namely chronological, electronic, functional and curriculum vitae. The choice of the style depends on the background the applicant wishes to represent. A chronological resume is the outline of skills, education and experience. Dates and titles organize this type of resume. It is used when the applicant fits into all the requirements mentioned. It is recommended for applicants who have a stable work history. Employers also prefer these type of resumes, as they are clear and easy to follow.

Functional resume is a slightly complicated outline that highlights the skills acquired. It groups experiences and education under specific skills or achievements. This type of resume is the best for candidates with limited experience. It is recommended for freshers and those who wish to change the industry. Employers shy from this type of resume unless each section is neatly organized and the content is easy to read.
Electronic resume is used when you apply for jobs via internet. It is organized to highlight some key words. It works well for companies that use scanning systems to pull out information. Employers with a huge database and having frequent job openings favor this resume.
Curriculum vitae are a lengthy enumeration of all the possible experiences, awards and achievements, work history, credentials. This is the best type while applying for professional careers like the medical or science field.
